My first important celebration cake I made was back in February 2014 for my sister Jennie's 21st birthday. It was a 3-tiered vanilla sponge cake with fresh strawberries and cream.

Its actually a not bad first attempt (apart from the horrendous piping skills), despite the fact that I did not put any support in the cake. No dowels, no extra cake boards in between.. now that I think about it.. I am surprised that it didn't sink.

But collapse it did not, and to this day I am still very proud of it and the edible flowers I used to decorate.. It was the start of my obsession with using flowers as garnishes on cakes.

This cake was the beginning of my journey. It helped me decide that this is what I want to do.. make beautiful cakes for all occasions, that everyone can enjoy.
